About Me
I began my journey at San Jose State University in the Spring of 2018. After 4 semesters and a summer session, I have completed enough coursework to advance to candidate status for the Master's in Library and Information Science degree in my fifth and final semester. After graduating with a B.A. in History, I was unsure what route I wanted to pursue professionally. I fell into the security field, creating threat assessments and intelligence reports, among other things. I felt like I was not being challenged, and knew it was not what I wanted to do. After researching various jobs that genuinely interested me and speaking with countless education department individuals and library staff, I realized I needed an advanced degree, a MLIS.
I began researching programs and universities, and ultimately, I decided to apply for the MLIS program at San Jose State University, as it not only carried a stellar reputation, but fit perfectly with my schedule and lifestyle. Now, two and a half years after I started the program, I am nearing my goal of graduation and award of the degree.

It is designed to be the culminating experience from the MLIS program, and the competencies are what has been agreed upon by iSchool staff to be the essential skills necessary for an entry-level information professional. Each competency is discussed in detail and evidence is provided in the form of various assignments, documents and video presentations.
